uncoveredtruths: ([Reporter]Hiding)
People disappeared all the time, Lois knew that. One morning they'd wake up and find that their whole world had changed in an instant. Lois knew that, she did but this, this was different. This was Clark Kent. This was Smallville, her Smallville. He wouldn't just leave her, he wouldn't just disappear like that. And whilst some people might sit down, cry and accept that their loved one had gone Lois wasn't that girl. Lois was going to find Clark if it killed her.

She knew she was probably being a bit overzealous going to check out Rapture with a search team but she couldn't just sit around and wait whilst other people looked for him. She needed to know, she needed to find him. And although a small part of her knew she wasn't going to find him down there, she just had to keep believing she would even if that was just for a little while longer.

"Thanks for coming, I just- I know he wouldn't disappear like this. It's not like Clark," Lois said as they descended down into Rapture. Lois could feel her heart tightening with every little moment that Clark wasn't there with her. Lois pressed her lips tight together, jaw tense as she stood waiting for them to arrive in Rapture. "He just- he has to be here okay? And we're going to find him. I know we are."

Lois Lane did not have lie ins. Lois would have loved to have a lie in but apart from the fact that news didn't really wait for no woman, Clark Kent also liked to wake up at ungodly o'clock and make his presence known as loudly as possible. Well, as quietly as he could but honestly even quiet Clark still managed to have a quite visible presence in her life. This morning though Lois felt different, like she'd actually managed to sleep in.

"MmmphClark, what time is it?" Lois mumbles blearily, hand reaching for Clark to hit him in the face like always if he crept back into bed with her at a more sensible hour. Normally her fingers would spread across his cheeks, smushing them beneath her fingers before she'd slide over and into his arms. That was how it was supposed to be, every other morning just the same feeling warm and safe and loved. It's funny how when your whole world changes you just know. Deep down even if you don't want to face the truth just yet. "Smallville?"

Her hand reaches where Clark should have been and finds only empty air. Falling forward, she braces her hand against the bedside table swearing as she knocked it hard. Rebalancing it as something small, shiny falls off the edge and underneath the bed, Lois sat up and muttered annoyed. She didn't pause as she got out of bed, ignoring the empty bedroom as she headed towards the kitchen now fully awake and kinda grumpy.

"Ugh, I hate that bedside table. I swear it's trying to kill me or you know my wrists... Clark?" Lois hesitated at the bedroom's edge looking at an empty kitchen. Her heart falls and she knows, she does, that the space where Clark's stupid goofy farm boy face should be is empty. "Clark? Okay, stop acting hysterical Lois look for a note. This is Clark Kent, Boy Scout. He wouldn't-"

Okay, she just needed to take a moment. A moment to calm down, collect her thoughts. Moment taken. "I'm so going to kick your ass for making me worry like this Smallville when I find you. And don't worry I'm going to find you."

She just had to believe that. Just for a little while longer.
